About Dr. Harris
Dr. Lisa Marie Harris is a licensed professional counselor supervisor, researcher, educator, and author whose work bridges mental health, faith, culture, and community healing. With over a decade of clinical, academic, and community-based experience, she is nationally recognized for her work addressing racial trauma, colorism, and culturally relevant mental health care within Black and Brown communities.
Dr. Harris is the creator of Beauty Shop Talk™, a faith-based, culturally grounded space where women gather to discuss mental health, wellness, and life experiences without judgment. Her work centers on equipping clergy, counselors, and community leaders to respond to mental health needs with cultural humility, spiritual sensitivity, and evidence-based practices.
She is also the author of If I Can Just Make It to Church, a research-informed guide designed to help faith leaders support mental health in congregations through collaboration, education, and culturally relevant care.
