About Dr. Lisa Marie
Taking Mental Health Beyond the Couch and Into the Community
Dr. Lisa Marie Harris is a counselor educator, licensed professional counselor supervisor, consultant, speaker, author, pastor, and wellness educator. Her work brings together mental-health expertise, education, cultural responsiveness, faith, and practical application to help individuals, leaders, churches, and organizations create healthier communities.
Through Healing Season, she makes complex conversations about mental health accessible, relevant, and actionable, particularly within communities where stigma, cultural expectations, racial trauma, colorism, or limited access to trusted resources may prevent people from receiving meaningful support.
Meet Dr. Lisa Marie

Dr. Lisa Marie Harris, PhD, ND, LPC-S, CSAC-S, CWC, is a licensed professional counselor supervisor, certified substance abuse counselor supervisor, counselor educator, consultant, speaker, author, pastor, and certified wellness coach. Her professional journey has included counseling, clinical supervision, substance-use treatment, special education, school-based services, university teaching, ministry leadership, curriculum development, organizational consultation, and community wellness education. This multidisciplinary experience enables her to understand mental health from several perspectives: the individual seeking support, the professional providing care, the leader responding to a community, and the organization working to serve people responsibly.
Dr. Lisa Marie holds a PhD in Psychology from Walden University, a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Fayetteville State University. She also holds a Doctor of Naturopathy degree and brings a whole-person perspective to conversations about emotional, physical, relational, social, and spiritual well-being.
As a university educator and clinical supervisor, she helps developing professionals connect ethical practice, cultural responsiveness, sound clinical judgment, and practical application. Her teaching reflects her belief that education should do more than share information. It should prepare people to respond wisely and effectively in real situations.
THE PURPOSE BEHIND HEALING SEASON
Healing Season was created from the belief that important conversations about mental health should not remain confined to counseling offices. People often turn first to pastors, ministry leaders, educators, supervisors, family members, and trusted community figures when they are struggling. Those leaders need practical knowledge, appropriate boundaries, culturally informed resources, and clear referral pathways.
Dr. Lisa Marie equips people to recognize concerns, respond with compassion, and connect individuals with appropriate support without expecting community or ministry leaders to become therapists. Her work is especially informed by the experiences of Black Americans and women of color, while remaining relevant and responsive to people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
